Nellie L. McClung (1873-1951) stands as a towering figure in Canadian history—a feminist trailblazer, social activist, author, and political leader. As one of the Famous Five, her landmark 1929 court case established women as persons, paving the way for them to serve as federal senators. Her first novel, Sowing Seeds in Danny, published in 1908, became a national sensation, selling over 100,000 copies and introducing readers to Pearl Watson and the resilient villagers of Millford, Manitoba.
