060: Connections and Community with Shayna Norwood

from Craft A Life You Love · host Amy Tangerine

Greeting cards are such a powerful tool for connecting with loved ones. Especially during times like now where you might not be there to celebrate birthdays, holidays or big milestones in person. In this episode, I was joined by Shayna Norwood, founder of Steel Petal Press. Shayna and I talked about how her business has been doing during the pandemic and what shifts she's had to make to run her business during this time. She opened up about what it's like to run a business with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and how the pandemic has fostered closer connections within the creative community. We explored where she gathers inspiration for designs, the differences in running a business on the retail and wholesale sides and why she's so passionate about helping others to connect through stationery goods. (This episode was pre-recorded on May 27, 2020)   What's in this episode: How Shayna crafts a life she loves by balancing her creative and analytical side How her business is doing during the pandemic Shayna's history of running her business with Generalized Anxiety Disorder What advice she'd give to someone struggling with mental illness The difference between running wholesale and retail businesses What she did to shift her perspective through the pandemic Why she is passionate about helping people connect  How the community is coming together in new ways from the pandemic Where Shayna draws inspiration from for her designs How she plans for new releases for her business   About Shayna: Shayna Norwood is a professionally trained visual artist with a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute.
