The second book of Samuel could be called The Book of David, for it is all about his reign. It is a book filled with violence and scandal. What do we do with the difficult parts of the Bible? What do they say about us? Readings from 2 Samuel illustrate the nature of the contents, but our hope comes from Psalm 51, a prayer prayed in response to one of these events.
