Dear Families of Room F1, We’re going to have a great upcoming week. Below is a short description of what’s coming up and important links and/or announcements: Watch These Announcements on Video Here Mr. Gray’s Class Podcast Class Website Read Across America Day (Read all day)- Wednesday March 2nd Wear PJs, Bring blankets and/or stuffed animals. We will read almost all day! Jog-A-Thon Friday March 4th (Turn in Pledge Envelopes to Mr. Gray by March 18th) Our run time is first thing in the morning (8:25-8:55) so students should come dressed to run. Open House Thursday, March 31st Multiplication and Division Facts Practice  Spelling Words - The kids will receive the words Tuesday, practice during the week, and take the quiz on Friday. Follow along with our Wordament! Reader’s Workshop We are continuing our researching animals unit. We are practicing different ways to research and gather information about a topic. This week we will study how to build up vocabulary and talk with the lingo of experts and how to discuss our topic with zeal for a new animal. Writer’s Workshop The kids will continue our writing about research unit going along with our reading unit. This week the kids will teach others about their animal as a way to get ready to write, discuss table of contents and chapter organization and reread their drafts to add more. Math What happened to math class? We will wrap up our unit on fractions by studying fractions greater than 1, fraction word problems, reviewing fractions and finally taking a fractions assessment at the end of the week. Social Studies The kids will take their knowledge of the important symbols and documents of the United States and make documents and symbols that represent our classroom. Science We will start a new unit on weather. We will start the unit by discussing what weather is, sorting weather related vocabulary words, and learning about different kinds of clouds.
