#118 - Woody Allen

from The Paul Leslie Hour

Woody Allen is an international icon: a film director, writer, actor, comedian and playwright. Most known for his motion pictures, including such classic films as Annie Hall, Sleeper and Manhattan, this interview focuses on his love of music. Woody Allen is one of the most celebrated personalities in film, but many have noted the the incredible use of music in his films. The soundtracks have all been memorable. This stems from his lifelong love of music. He is a clarinet player and in this interview we talk about his passion for the authentic, traditional jazz of New Orleans. Allen performs with the Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band many Monday evenings at the Café Carlyle at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan on 35 East 76th Street, New York. This interview was recorded back in 2008. The original recording had a very poor sound quality. Audio restoration was completed greatly improving the clarity. Additional audio engineering and mastering courtesy of Kevin Hooper has resulted in an interview that is quite listenable. It is presented as a historical record and for your listening enjoyment on this episode of The Paul Leslie Hour.
