13 - Keri Cooper talks about why parents should say NO to competitive sports

from The Flirty Vegan · host Vegan Lifestyle Coach: Jenny Cheifetz

Keri Cooper LCSW, NBCCH is a holistic psychotherapist for adolescents and children from New Jersey. She's an Eagles fan by marriage, a mother of four, and the author of Mental Health Uncensored: 10 Foundations Every Parent Needs to Know and Mental Health Uncensored Teen Workbook: 10 Foundations Every Teen Needs to Know.Keri's Notes from the Sidelines: If you don't have foundations, you are never going to have great mental health. It's great to fill other people's buckets, but it is essential to find self-value from within. "If you fill your own bucket, no one can dump it out." Helicopter parents are too involved and don't give kids a chance to build themselves up. The solution for kids to build their self esteem up is for parents to stop keeping up with the Joneses and start saying NO to their children, put limits in place, which will allow the family to start having fun and enjoying life together as that family unit, which is really important. Reminder - social media isn't real. Lesson from covid - boredom is important. Boredom helps people, especially children and teens, figure out what they like and who they are as people, because being an athlete cannot be someone's entire identity. Meditation is anything that allows you to be in the moment. www.KeriCooperholistictherapy.com@kericooperholistictherapy 🔥JOIN SIDELINE SISTERHOOD🔥Weekly support, guidance, breathwork & tools to FEEL calm, joyful, confident & more!🌐Check https://www.jentlecoaching.comFollow @jentlecoaching on Instagram📣Join Sideline Sisters Facebook Group☎️Book a CONNECTION CALL⭐️Get the newsletter🕊Download FREE MEDITATIONSign up for Podcast like a Mother: Podcast Creation Course**The information provided on this podcast does not, and is not intended to constitute legal or medical advice; all information, content, and material on this site are for general informational purposes only.
