In Nancy's words: I am dedicated peaking honestly and openly about taboo subjects, the traumas in my personal life story (sexual abuse, eating disorder, depression, dropping out of college, divorce, therapy...etc.) while creating safe space for others to do the same. I tell my story so that others have permission to tell theirs. I tell my story so that people who can find me when they need someone who can understand in a way only someone who has been there can. Nancy has more than 20 years experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist focusing on the area of Social Cognition. She is passionate about her work, which helps individuals connect meaningfully with others and build community by strengthening communication skills. She brings this same passion to audiences when she bravely engages in conversations regarding her personal trauma, her healing ‘Spartan Race” and the tools she has gained that allow her to do more than survive. She has found a way to thrive and is dedicated to engaging in uncomfortable conversations about taboo topics in order to lift the shame and secrecy that surrounds them and share her experience to help others. She has conducted live (virtual) workshops and been a featured guest and speaker on live shows, podcasts and fundraising events. Nancy's 3 top tips 1. Show-up, no matter where you are in your journey or how you’re feeling! 2. Expect life to be very ‘NOT Sexy’ at times. It is often ugly and snotty. 3. We all have important stories to tell.
