Send us a text!Joseph Houmard, PhD is a professor in the Department of Exercise & Sport Science and Director of the Human Performance Laboratory at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.Dr. Houmard is an author of more than 150 scientific papers and book chapters and has been funded by the National Institutes of Health for his research. Dr. Houmard’s research focuses on skeletal muscle metabolism and how it is altered with conditions such as aging, insulin, resistance, and obesity and how interventions such as weight loss and exercise exert their positive effects.In this episode, Dr. Houmard discusses the inspiration behind his career researching skeletal muscle metabolism.
