15 - Սոնիա Պետրովնա Ասլանով - Sonia Bedrovna Aslanov

Թիֆլիսի հայկական կեանքը կամաց-կամաց կը վերափոխուի եկեղեցական կալուածներու գրաւման դէմ համաժողովրդական շարժումէն ետք, եւ հայ պուրժուական շրջանակները կը սկսին վերադառնալ իրենց արմատներուն։ Գաղտնի հայկական դպրոցներ կը բացուին, ուր Եւգէնին եւ այլ նուիրեալ աղջիկներ կը զբաղին հայոց լեզուի դասաւանդութեամբ։Այս փոփոխուող մթնոլորտին մէջ կը շարունակուին Սոնիայի եւ իշխան Ալէքսէյի հարսանիքի պատրաստութիւնները, մինչ անտեսանելի լարումներ կամաց-կամաց կը ճեղքեն այն աշխարհը, զոր Սոնիան պատկերացուցած էր իրենց համար։ Սիրոյ, դաւաճանութեան եւ պատկանելիութեան միջեւ տատանելով՝ Սոնիան կը փորձէ ընդունիլ իր ընտրած ուղին, սակայն կը բախի այն դառն իրականութեան, թէ ինք օտար մըն է ռուս պուրժուական շրջանակներուն մէջ, եւ կամաց-կամաց կը փլուզուի ապագայի իր երազը։Երբ իշխանին իսկական բնաւորութիւնը կը բացայայտուի, Սոնիան ստիպուած կ’ըլլայ առերեսուելու ցաւալի ճշմարտութեան մը։ Իշխանին անհաւատարմութիւնը կը դառնայ ոչ միայն դաւաճանութիւն, այլ նաեւ այն պահը, որ կը փշրէ բոլոր պատրանքները՝ Սոնիային բացայայտելով, թէ զինք իշխանին կապողը իրական սէր չէր, այլ անունին, դիրքին ու ներկայացուցած աշխարհին հանդէպ ունեցած հրապոյրը։Եւ այս յուսախաբութեան ընդմէջէն Սոնիան կը գիտակցի Վարդանին հանդէպ իր ունեցած զգացումներուն խորութեան եւ անկեղծութեան։ Այս դաժան փորձառութիւնը կը դառնայ նոր ապագայի մը հաւանականութեան սկիզբը՝ իր եւ Վարդանին միասնական ապագան։As Tiflis gradually transforms in the aftermath of the popular movement against the confiscation of Armenian Church properties, the Armenian bourgeois circles begin returning to their roots.
