16. The Importance of the BUILD phase

from Conscious Business School · host Conscious Business School

Topics Covered: Online Business Coaching Misleading You, Expectations vs Reality when building your business, two sides of building a business On last week’s episode of the pod I gave you a glimpse into my journey of activating my business. I vulnerably told you about how I sat in the shadows for 5 years – and certainly not for lack of know-how because I’ve been doing this for some time in both my corporate career and in the background of other people’s businesses. While I wish I had moved, I took action soon – I don’t look back with regret – in fact I don’t regret many things in my life. I never have. I heard Peter Crone on a podcast say once: It couldn’t have been any other way because it wasn’t and that really helped me move forward from the past without regret. You can’t change it, only learn. I digress – on my journey, there have been key moments of inflection that changed the course of my actions or that (finally) landed in a way that I could receive. There were perspective shifts but most importantly there was key, simple, focused intentional action taken. Because activation requires action.  Which transitions nicely into what I want to chat with you about today - highlighting the importance of the BUILD phase of building your business.  Before we get into the nitty gritty of the podcast I think we need to chat about the expectation vs reality of building your business and the impact that social media has on us.  If you are like me you are bombarded with tiktoks and reels from online business coaches and mentors telling you that if you follow their formula you can have a $10K month the first time you open your doors or the perfect $100K launch strategy. Glamorizing income and setting the expectation to instant success.  This type of messaging has been sitting funny with me for a while and I think I’ve finally settled into why.  It completely glosses over the early, necessary and often most important phase of your entrepreneurial journey that every business must go through – the initial build.  Keep listening to hear more about the two sides of the build and an absolute pre-requisite to a successful business. If you are ready to ACTIVATE your business, to move it out of the internal, idea phase into reality, join us inside Business: Activated (Starting October 10). It is a 6-week launch accelerator designed to get you over the gap between where you are and where you want to be and to build the foundation of a successful business. We'll talk energetics and strategy and build a simple, focused plan for you to follow to birth your business into the world. For more daily tips and antics, follow me on Instagram or TikTok!
