Some of today's top storiesIn your 17 crime watch... new developments in a story we've been following since December 2022.    That's when the burned body of a young mother was discovered on the side of Highway 99 in Bakersfield.    This morning, the man suspected of killing her is behind bars in the southland.    Carlos Saucedo has more on this late-breaking development.Turning now to your 17 court watch..    An agreement is made in the case of a Kern County sheriff's deputy who filed restraining orders against another deputy she accused of sexually assaulting her. Carly Snow has dropped her civil harassment case against Enrique Plaza. The restraining orders against him have been withdrawn.Snow is suing the county, alleging she was subjected to lewd comments and retaliation by more than a dozen Sheriff's Office employees during her years on the force.She says she fended off multiple unwanted sexual advances by colleagues, and was twice sexually assaulted by Plaza.Snow filed restraining orders against Plaza and another deputy, Stephen Wells.Hearings on the Wells case and the lawsuit are scheduled next month.The agreement was announced before the court commissioner ruled on a request by 17 News to film the proceedings. Our Robert Price took a deep dive into this story back in June. You can watch his special report -- Internal Affair -- on our website.. kget dot com.You can expect to see more police officers at Centennial High School this week, after a student was found with a gun in a backpack on the first day of school. Centennial says it received a report of a student with a gun off campus, before the start of the school day yesterday.    Kern High School District Police moved quickly and arrested the student while still off campus.     Police say the gun was not loaded... but that's not stopping some parents from having a tough talk with their kids. In a notice sent home to parents, Centennial said it plans to have extra police presence on campus, out of an abundance of cautionTurning now to the Borel Fire...still holding at 91-percent containment three weeks after it started in the mountains east of Bakersfield.  Firefighters are reporting that fire activity remains minimal and is not posing any threat of jumping containment lines.    Trails and road closures still in effect tonight in the Piute Mountains area....as well as closures of the Creek Campground and parts of Pacific Crest Trail.
