Growth Instigators Hotline970.306.6432Are you wanting to know how to compel people?Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day!  This is message #180 and I am Aaron Havens.I’ve done a lot of deep work on myself.  I want to be a person that is centered and ready for the world.  I’ve read books, had deep conversation and embrace each new day with a positive outlook.  So, when I tell you that compelling people is actually super simple, it might make you smile a bit.Let’s take a bit of a detour from that for me to set the stage.Halloween is one of my favorite nights of the year.  When my girls were younger we would set up a fire pit and grill in the drive way, invite a bunch of friends over,  and hand out candy and “Halloweenies”.  This went on for a few years and then suddenly our house was the house to be.  Our driveway would be full and the legend of our house handing out “Halloweenies” grew.  Trick-or-Treaters would park at a nearby park and start their adventures off at our house.  At the height we handed out 150 hotdogs and who knows how many pounds of sugar.  Super fun and casual.  Then we moved.  For a few years now we really haven’t had a driveway party.  Until last night!  Yep!  We pulled out the ole’ grill and throw on the hotdogs.  By the end of the night, we had one neighbor come and join our group of friends for a couple hours, one neighbor drive past us waving only to come join our party for an hour and one neighbor stop to give up cookies because it looked like fun.  All in all, we met two neighbor because of a fire pit and some fun.So back to the point.  If you want to compel people… give them a reason to be compelled.  In these case, we had to break the ice of opening our garage, lighting a fire, handing out candy and simple being welcoming.  The rest happened on it’s own.  Give people permission and a way to do what they already want to do!  People want relationship.  People want to have fun.  People want to be known.  Often times, all we have to do is put in a little bit of work, invite others to join us, and then be welcoming.  So.  What fun thing can you do to invite others to join in.  Are you willing to put your neck on the line to look silly, to be an initiator, to have a little fun?  I’ve found the world is looking, waiting and wanting to join fire pits in life.    Thanks for calling in today.  Tune in tomorrow for the weekend edition.  After the beep I’d like to know… has there been a time when you initiated something and suddenly people showed up and fun began?
