187 Kara Fernstrom - Unraveling Happiness & Making Friends

from Neff Inspiration · host Neff Inspiration

Kara Fernstrom: doer of things. Kara is a complex person with a complicated past. Less of an expert, and more of a lifelong learner, Kara spends all of her extra moments exploring wellbeing, happiness, and recording these fascinating conversations for the world to hear. A double whammy of vulnerability exposure therapy and tangible lessons and thoughts, her podcast, The Conquest of Bliss has literally transformed her life. Outside of the podcast, Kara spends her days making art, practising self-care, and trying to make the world a little nicer through relationships and interactions with other people.  In Kara's words:  Happiness and Well-being are big subjects with far-reaching consequences.  Unravelling these ideas can be (and is, for many) a full-time job. Positive psychology, mindfulness, and self-compassion are all finally coming into vogue, but where do you find the time to sort out what all of these different ideas mean? Curiously, the curse of chronic illness, and consequently getting forced out of the workforce, blessed Kara with exactly that: time. And oh boy has she learned some fascinating things about happiness and is always excited to share them! 3 top tips for my audience: 1. Self compassion is key. How would you want someone to treat your best friend? Shouldn't you treat your best friend's best friend that way? 2. Read about how the brain works. Neuroscience, psychology, and similar studies help to unravel things that feel super mysterious.  3. Practice mindfulness to start understanding how your specific brain works. Mindfulness helps to clarify things that get clouded in emotion and trauma. Social media and contact info.  Http://theconquestofbliss.com Linktr.ee/theconquestofbliss   Wait, there is more!!!
