#187 Why are some things so difficult?

from Growth Instigators Hotline · host Aaron Havens

Growth Instigators Hotline970.306.6432Here’s the secret as to why some things are so difficult.Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day!  This is message #187 and I am Aaron Havens. As young lad, I played piano.  I played all sorts of different themes.  One of my favorite songs to play was the theme song to the hit TV show “MacGyver”. Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun… dun dun dun.   Haha.  That was a fun one.My pride and joy was a rag time piece called the Maple Leaf Rag.  It was so complicated and took me a long time to learn.  And because this song was what I competed at state with, I had it memorized.  Here’s a pro tip.  For all you young lads looks for a rico suave move… drop down at a piano and randomly blow the young ladies minds.  Yeah.  For years, whenever a piano would appear, I would have fun pounding out Maple Leaf Rag.  Great fun song.  Something happened over time where I would forget a few sections of the song.  Until it finally happened.  A few years ago I couldn’t even remember how it began.   neuroplasticity. This is the brain's remarkable ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. For a long time, scientists believed that the brain was “fixed” after a certain age, but research has shown that it’s actually flexible and can adapt to new experiences, learning, and even injuries.Every time you learn something new, practice a skill, or adapt to a challenge, you’re reshaping your brain. This rewiring isn’t just about creating new skills but also about strengthening or weakening existing neural pathways. When you practice a skill repeatedly, the connections in your brain related to that skill become stronger and more efficient. Conversely, pathways you don’t use weaken over time—a principle often summed up as “use it or lose it.”Don’t lose it!  And reversely, USE IT.  Let’s tell our brains what we will do today! Thanks for calling in today.  Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic.  Have a similar story you can share?  What are you doing to form new paths in your brain?https://growthinstigators.com/
