Tra gallerie scavate nella roccia, mine sotterranee e postazioni sospese nel vuoto, queste montagne sono state teatro di una guerra estrema, combattuta in condizioni disumane. Franz Brunner Pozzi, guida alpina storica, accompagna Diego Clara lungo i luoghi simbolo del fronte dolomitico, dal Lagazuoi al Col di Lana, raccontando una storia fatta di uomini in divisa, spesso contadini e pastori, catapultati in un ambiente ostile e sconosciuto.
