2/27 Connecticut Weather 6 PM: Clear Skies

from The Connecticut Weather Podcast

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, enjoy tonight. Seriously. Step outside and feel that 45 degrees air on your face. That's twelve degrees above normal for late February. High pressure is sliding offshore right now. and it's giving us one last gift before handing the keys to an Arctic front. In the next 24 hours. Central Connecticut is leading the charge at 43 degrees. The coast sits a touch cooler at 38, thanks to those southerly winds skimming across Long Island Sound. Eastern areas split the difference at 39. All of it under crystal clear skies. Tonight stays quiet. Lows settle near 25 degrees along the coast and east, 27 inland. One thing to watch. Patchy fog rolls in after 3 A.M. As moisture from our snowpack meets the warmer air. That could make early Saturday driving a little tricky. And Saturday? That's the real headline. Central Connecticut hits 50 degrees. Fifty. In February. Fog burns off by 9 A.M., then partly sunny skies take over. The coast reaches 45. Eastern spots climb to 46. Perfect for a long walk or finally scraping that ice off the back steps. Now the plot twist. Sunday a cold front barrels through. Snow showers dust the state with a coating to half an inch. Then the Arctic air arrives like it's been waiting in the wings. Sunday night lows crash to 11 degrees in central areas. Fourteen along the coast and east. Monday barely claws its way to 29. Looking further out, the cold doesn't stick around long. Multiple storm systems roll through Tuesday into Thursday, bringing a mix of rain and snow. Temperatures climb back into the 40s by midweek. Classic late February chaos. Charge your phone and leave your heavy coat by the door. You won't need it tomorrow, but Sunday night you'll be reaching for it fast. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
