2/27 Connecticut Weather Noon: Clear Skies

from The Connecticut Weather Podcast

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, high pressure is parked right over us like a cat on a warm laptop. and it's not moving. That big dome of sinking air is why you woke up to 19 degrees but stepped outside to pure sunshine. No clouds. No wind. Just that crisp, cold blue sky that makes late February feel almost. Hopeful. In the next 24 hours. Right now temperatures are climbing fast. Central Connecticut pushes to 43 degrees this afternoon. The coast settles around 41. Eastern towns hit 40. That's five degrees above normal. Light winds mean it actually feels pleasant out there. Grab a walk before sunset at 5:39 P.M. You've earned it. Tonight stays calm. Partly cloudy. Lows dip to about 24 degrees statewide. Now Saturday. Saturday is the gem. A southwest flow cranks the dial. Hartford touches 50 degrees. Coastal and eastern spots reach 47. Mostly sunny. If you've been waiting for an excuse to get outside, there it's. But enjoy that warmth. Because Sunday flips the script. A cold front barrels through, dragging scattered snow showers between 7 A.M. and early afternoon. We're talking a coating to maybe an inch. Nothing dramatic. Highs stall in the upper 30s. Then Arctic air crashes the party. Sunday night lows plunge to 14 degrees along the coast. Central Connecticut drops to 10. Monday barely claws into the upper 20s. The week ahead tells a bigger story. That deep freeze loosens its grip by midweek. Temperatures climb back toward the 40s. but several storm systems line up Tuesday through Thursday, bringing chances of rain and snow. Nothing alarming yet, but I'll be watching closely. In One more thing worth smiling about. Sunrise today was 6, 30 A.M. The spring equinox is three weeks out. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every single day now. Winter's losing its grip whether it likes it or not. I'll be tracking that Sunday front all weekend. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
