Good afternoon. Rhode Island. I'm Aaron Jolly. Folks, step outside right now and you might think winter called in sick. We're sitting at a surprisingly mild 44 degrees. Considering we woke up to 18 this morning, that 26-degree jump is something else. An Arctic front is charging toward New England. and today is your last comfortable day for a while. In the next 24 hours. Here's what's happening. High pressure is giving us mostly sunny skies this afternoon. Providence climbs to 46 degrees — that's 8 degrees above normal for late February. Down at Narragansett Bay, you'll see 42 degrees with a gentle south wind around 7 miles an hour. Honestly, it's perfect weather for a walk. Tonight, clouds increase. Lows drop to 27 degrees in Providence and 29 along the Bay. Sunday is when the pattern flips. An Arctic front sweeps through, bringing light snow. Providence sees snow start around 10 A.M., peaking around 1 P.M. The Bay gets hit closer to noon. We're only talking about an inch or so of accumulation. Still, roads could be slick for a few hours. The real story is what follows. Sunday night. Arctic air pours in. Providence plunges to 10 degrees. The Bay drops to 13. North winds at 10 miles an hour will make it feel even colder. Monday stays frigid — sunny, but highs only near 28 degrees. Looking ahead. Tuesday brings a quick warm-up into the low 40s with rain likely. Then Wednesday through Friday, temperatures climb into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. It turns unsettled though, with periodic rain chances each day.
