2: Sue Wilson – Gut Health and Colonics
from Voice of Jesus Ministries Audio Podcast
For this episode I got to go on a country road trip and sit down with Sue in her childhood home! She was visiting family near me so I ventured on a road trip to be amongst the rolling hills, dairy cows, chickens, dogs and just lots of country air goodness. I did get lost. But it was worth it. I had the best time that day. I’ve known Sue for a number of years, we did a health coaching certificate through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition together, and she is the founder of Bottoms Up Colonic clinics which is a closed system colon hydrotherapy clinic. Before founding Bottoms Up in 2005, Sue worked for 20 years in social work counselling so for Sue, her lifelong passion has been helping people achieve emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. She founded the business after her own life-changing experience of colonics and is a trained Colon Hydrotherapist and a member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT). Sue originally trained with Margaret White in colon hydrotherapy in 2005, and then went on to also train with with Luis Rojas in LA in 2013. Sue is now the IICT’s only approved training provider of Rojas Colon Hydrotherapy in Australia. Sue opened her very first Bottoms Up clinic just outside Mackay, Queensland Australia and today has franchises in Mackay, Bundaberg, Adelaide’s Fleurieu Peninsula and has others planned for Melbourne, Brisbane, the Sunshine and Gold Coasts to open soon and many others to follow. It just isn’t about colonics for Sue though, it really is about gut health and the importance of nutrition in long-term results with colonics, so Sue became a Body Ecology consultant in 2007 and continues to train with founder Donna Gates. Sue also runs Belly Talk 101 gut health seminars anywhere in Australia sharing tips on digestive health, and has also created the Cultured Cuisine range of fermented foods. And if that wasn’t enough to keep this beautiful woman busy, Sue is currently co-ordinating the first-ever Colon Hydrotherapy and Gut Conference on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia and has partnered with SmartDNA to conduct the first research on colonics and microbes. Some questions that will be answered: Why is taking care of your gut important for people’s health, happiness and success? What is a colonic? What should people know before going for a colonic and finding a safe place to have a colonic? When would someone be more at need of a colonic then someone else? How does someone prepare for a colonic? What can you expect after you have had a colonic? What’s the difference between an enema and a colonic? What health improvements have people experienced from having a closed system colonic? How does emotions impact the gut? What is your big vision with the health business? What is one big key lesson you have learnt from building this business? My key takeaways: We have about 35 feet of small and large intestine and can hold up to 8-10kgs of poop! Ancient Egyptians did colonics, using reeds, ouch! Chemicals now in our foods and the hybridisation and changes to foods like wheat and corn make it very hard for our digestive system to do its thing. Food and thoughts determine your health – Sue Wilson. (totally tweetable) Autointoxication is something we are going to start hearing more about and colonics help cleanse the body and every cell in the body preventing this. Disease begins and ends in our gut – Norman Walker (another tweetable) The lymphatic system is dependent on the gut. It takes 6 months to generate a new liver so you need to be thinking about what you are putting in your body to build those new cells. There is a direct link between our brain and our gut. We are hosts to many different types of bacteria and parasites. There are so many more I’d just end up writing a novel if I kept going :) What Sue is grateful for: Sitting with me, her kids and grandkids, and her clients. What Sue feels needs to change to make the world a better place: Show love, come together as a community and be tolerant. The advice Sue would give her younger self: Peace and trust. There is so much great advice and wisdom in this episode so I really encourage you to press play. Bottoms Up is partnering with SmartDNA to do the first ever Australian microbial and colonic research. So if you suffer from IBS, weight issues, depression/anxiety or type 2 diabetes we would love to have you on board.
