Today we close out September's theme of Remakes That Nobody Asked For with 2017's Alex Kurtzman-helmed The Mummy starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, and the always AMAZING Sofia Boutella in the title role. With what was to launch Universal's long term plans of updating the world with their classic Universal Monsters in the guise of the aptly named Dark Universe, which was announced just as The Mummy was being released, a lot was riding on it's success.
