#233. Audiobook Sample - grammar 「

from jENI NO PIKA PIKA NIHONGO 日本語

Hello. Welcome to Jenni's Pika Pika Japanese. Today's Japanese study is a grammar sample from the audiobook, "kore" "sore" and "are". Please listen to the audio to learn. Today, I would like to introduce a Japanese custom of this time of the year, "Ochugen(お中元)". Ochugen is a summer greeting given to those who have taken care of you as a token of appreciation for their kindness. Chugen is originally a Taoist custom, and refers to the 15th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar (the 15th day of the August of the new calendar). In the old days, people used to bring thank-you gifts wrapped in furoshiki風呂敷 (wrapping cloth) to those who had taken care of them. Nowadays, department stores and supermarkets send these gifts in July. Since it is still the hottest time of the year, popular items include beer, soft drinks, somen noodles, jelly, ice cream, and other items that are appreciated during the hot season. Bienvenido a Jenni's Pika Pika Japanese.
