3. Michael and Lives Within A Life
from Menfolk Journeys · host Chris Foster
The Buddhist and Hindu (and other) precepts of multiple lives are well-known.Whether you think that is a valid life perspective or not, and whether you think this is your only life and there isn’t another go-round, anyone I’ve met agrees that we have “multiple lives” within this life. I have a new life now than I did when I was in my 20s and even my 30s. I look at my life back then—the environment, the influences, the shape—and it’s very different from my life now. I like the vocabulary of this idea. When people say they had a “life-changing event,” isn’t that exactly what they mean? They’re changing lives.Don’t we all sometimes have that feeling? Don’t we all have different lives, where some core part of yourself carries through to the next, but we change? My conversation with Michael is about being aware of these different lives and, perhaps, of even more.Support the show
