314 Sermon On The Mount (Intro)

In this episode of the SimplyRevised Podcast, we begin a new series exploring the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7), one of Jesus' most profound and transformative teachings. Before diving into the sermon, we first step back to understand how Matthew structures his Gospel to present Jesus as the fulfillment of Israel's story—the true and faithful Israel and the new Moses. Matthew arranges his Gospel around five major teaching sections, mirroring the five books of Moses. From His baptism to His time in the wilderness, Jesus walks the path of Israel, He remains faithful where Israel failed. When He ascends the mountain to teach, He is not just giving good moral instruction but revealing the way of God's Kingdom. As we embark on this journey through the Sermon on the Mount, we are challenged to consider Jesus' words: "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock" (Matthew 7:24).
