Det er mere end 800 kvinder hver dag, primært i verdens fattigste lande.Men selv i verdens fattigste og mest øde egne findes smartphones. De er faktisk både udbredt og en stor del af hverdagen, og med Safe Delivery app’en kan Maternity Foundation, som er organisationen bag, nå millioner af kvinder med kvalificeret hjælp.For størstedelen af disse dødsfald kan faktisk forhindres, og app’en her er derfor et eksempel på hvordan teknologiske løsninger redder liv.Det er ikke kun i vores vestlige liv at teknologi spiller en rolle. 95% af verdens befolkning lever i et område, hvor der er mobildækning. Og mere end en tredjedel af verdens befolkning har i dag en smartphone og dermed adgang til internettet.Men hvordan bruges teknologien fornuftigt og konstruktivt i udviklingsarbejde, uden at man havner i den Silicon Valley inspirerede tilgang, hvor tech kommer før mennesker. Det taler Marie Høst med Adam Moe Fejerskov om, som peger på 3 faldgrupper når det kommer til techvelopment, og forklarer udtrykket Hvid Elefant - som ikke er positivt i udviklingsbistand.Derudover taler Marie Høst med CEO Anna Frellsen fra Maternity Foundation om baggrunden for at udvikle Safe Delivery app og Jordemoder Nanna Sten Andersen, som underviser fødselshjælpere over hele verden i brug af app’en.
