Bassist Norbert Putnam nam maar liefst 120 nummers op met Elvis. Hoe was het om met Elvis te werken? Hij herinnert zich een opvallend gesprek met Elvis in 1973 waarin The King klaagt over de Colonel. In het voormalige Las Vegas Hilton Hotel laat Jorrit van der Kooi ons zien waar hij de Colonel ontmoette, achter zijn favoriete gokautomaat. Hij sprak zelfs even Nederlands met hem. Daarna gaat de reis door naar Dallas, waar Elvis’ tourmanager Charles Stone ons ontvangt in zijn huis met drie apen. Hij beschouwde de Colonel als zijn vader.
