4-year-old boy among two injured in Wilmington shootout, police say

Wilmington police are investigating a shoot-out Sunday night that left a 4-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man wounded. Police say it was around 6:30 p.m. when the 18-year-old allegedly exchanged gunfire with several other unknown individuals on the 1400 block of West Third Street near North Rodney Street. He was shot, as was a 4-year-old boy. They were both taken to an area hospital in stable condition. According to authorities, charges against the 18-year-old are pending in this incident, and he was wanted by police for an unrelated matter. It's unclear who was supervising the child at the time of the shooting. Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to call detectives at the Wilmington Police Department.
