534 John 17 Study with Clayton and April
from Footnotes and Witness · host Deborah J McKenzie
This chapter is sometimes called "The High Priestly Prayer". Jesus has been chatting with his disciples before He goes to his arrest and crucifixion. It is a densely packed prayer that Jesus makes to the Father. He prays for His crew and for all those that will hear their words and believe; that's you! There is a lot to unpack here. Like Clayton and April recommend, this is one to take slowly. Read it a few times, come back to it, read it again. This is a particularly good chapter to have read to you. Episode 533 is just that for you. It may seem like Jesus is just repeating Himself but each of these statements are unique and important.
