We tend to regard the Bible as if it was written for us when it was not. For instance, Hebrews explicitly focused on the Jews; Timothy's letters were personal to him. The epistles to Corinth and Galatia dealt with issues in those particular churches. We can undoubtedly apply concepts of these writings to our lives today.  Pastor Singh explains that we extract from scripture what is appropriate for our time and circumstances. The word "scripture" means writings. God did not inspire everything written in the Bible. A preacher needs to understand the context to avoid misapplying Biblical passages when guiding his congregation today.  Proverbs 10:22 is one such quote. God must lead a minister when in using scripture so that his application is correct. Moreover, we need men to be inspired by God to give us "present truth" to save us from this present evil age!       September 23, 2020
