Hello from CNN, I'm Jo Beck, with the five things you need to know for Thursday, May 23rd. I will be voting for Trump. That was former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, announcing that former President Donald Trump has her vote. Haley dropped out of the GOP presidential nomination race more than two months ago, and yesterday she made her first public comment since then.
Some people could be surprised that she publicly supported Trump, after all the criticism she threw at him during the primaries. At some point, maybe we should say the reason that America keeps losing is because of Donald Trump. Donald Trump got out there and just threw a temper tantrum. But even though she said she'd vote for him at her events at the Hudson Institute, she also had a word of warning, Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they're just going to be with him.
Despite having dropped out of the race, Haley has still been winning some votes in Republican primaries, and that lingering support shows a possible challenge Trump will face to unify the party in suburban areas of swing states. The families of seven female Israeli soldiers captured by Hamas on October 7th are explaining why they've released graphic footage of their abduction. I think it should be shown to citizens in order to promote this, to mobilize our government to put this in the top priority and to move ahead and bring them all home. That was the mother of 19-year-old Nama Levy, who was among those captured that day.
Cell phone video released by Hamas shows her being dragged by her hair at gun points, and in one of the clips, she tells her abductors she has, quote, friends in Palestine. I heard her saying whatever she thought was right at that moment to fight for her life, and I knew that she had a chance. That's what she was going to say, because it's true, because she was part of a youth program promoting peace. I think at those moments, you couldn't even believe that she was in the situation.
Hamas is one of the roughly 130 hostages that Israel believes are still being held in Gaza. The newly released videos had been previously shared by Hamas, and were given to the families by the Israeli military. If you're traveling somewhere for the Memorial Day weekend today, you're definitely not alone. The FAA says today is expected to be the most popular day to fly, predicting that there will be more than 53,500 flights in the air.
But it's just the start of what could be an extremely busy weekend. American Airlines says it's likely to carry 3.9 million passengers between today and Tuesday, up 10 percent from last year. In fact, overall, the FAA expects this holiday weekend to be its busiest in 14 years. Nine people have died and dozens are injured, after a stage collapsed under heavy winds at a political rally in Mexico last night.
Video of the incident shows presidential candidate Jorge Alvarez-Maines running for cover with his team, as the event structure, including a large video screen, falls onto the stage and part of the audience area. The governor of Mexico's Noevo Leon State says at least 54 people were injured in the incident, adding that rescue operations continue to try to save some of the people trapped under the collapsed stage. The Justice Department is getting ready to file a lawsuit against Ticketmaster's parent company. That's next.
The Justice Department and several states are expected to file a lawsuit soon against Ticketmaster's parent company, LiveNation. That's according to a person briefed on the planned legal action, who says they're suing over antitrust allegations because of Ticketmaster's complete market dominance. The industry has been under intense scrutiny since glitches in 2022 blocked millions of users from buying tickets to Taylor Swift's era's tour. Many critics say the mess was a sign of how a lack of competition has led to poor customer service, confusing prices, and expensive fees.
That's all for now. I'll be back with more stories at 9am Eastern.
