Hello, from CNN, I'm Jo Beck, with the five things you need to know for Tuesday, October 29. We're almost there, just one week to go until the 2024 election. Tonight, Vice President Kamala Harris will deliver her final stretch-closing argument. At the same place, former President Donald Trump rallied his supporters on January 6, 2021, just before the violent attack on the U.S.
Capitol. She's expected to use the address to question Trump's fitness for office, something she previewed at a rally in Michigan yesterday. We can all see that Donald Trump is even more unsafe and more unhinged. Meanwhile, Trump is campaigning in the key battleground of Pennsylvania today, as he deals with the fallout from controversial comments from speakers at his final arguments at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Digis into what he said as a rally in Georgia last night. The newest line from Kamala and her campaign is that everyone who is voting for her is a Nazi. But that is a Nazi. CNN's Kristen Holmes has more on the backlash from the speeches, which included a comedian describing Puerto Rico as a floating island of garbage.
I was told that senior advisers were fielding calls for various lawmakers and aides, saying that those comments needed to be condemned. I've also heard a number of senior pointing between allies and aides saying that those speeches should have been vetted ahead of time, a lot of anger. Authorities are investigating ballot drop box fires in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. Fires at two ballot boxes were reported on Monday morning, and officials say they've identified a quote, suspect vehicle.
They said while many of the ballots in Portland were unaffected, hundreds of ballots were destroyed in a Vancouver box. And as CNN's Saramari explains, authorities believe there's a connection to another similar event earlier this month in Washington State. Washington State is the home of a very competitive congressional race. One of the candidates in that race, Congressman Marie Glusenkamp Perez, a Democrat said, I am requesting an overnight law enforcement presence be posted at all ballot drop boxes in Flour County through Election Day.
Southwest Washington cannot risk a single vote being lost to arson and political violence. Several nations are condemning Israel's decision to ban the UN's relief agency for Palestinian refugees from operating in territory under Israeli control. We are CNN's Bullhankocks for the details. Joe Unrua has been described as irreplaceable by the US State Department.
Other Western nations condemning Israel's decision calling on it to halt the legislation. The UN agency is considered a lifeline for more than two million Gazans. The head of Unrua says this will deepen the suffering of Palestinians who have gone through more than a year of sheer hell. Israel alleges more than a dozen employees were involved in the October 7 attacks.
Unrua fired nine employees following a UN investigation. Meanwhile, Hezbollah says it's named Naim Qasem as its new Secretary-General after Israel killed the group's previous leader, Hassan Azrallah, last month. Two new civil lawsuits have been filed against Sean Diddy Combs by men who allege he sexually assaulted them during auditions when they were miners. One of the anonymous accusers claims he was just 10 years old when he was allegedly assaulted by Combs in 2005 at a hotel in New York.
Another claims he was assaulted during a three-day audition for the MTV Competition Series making the band when he was 17. In a statement to CNN, Combs says he denies the latest claims made against him. The music mogul is now facing 27 civil cases while he's being held in custody in New York, awaiting criminal trial. A record was tied last night at Game 3 of the World Series.
More on that next. The LA Dodgers are leading the World Series three games to zero after they beat the New York Yankees four to two last night. And they did it in style, with first baseman Freddie Freeman tying a World Series record, homeering his fifth consecutive full-class game. If the Dodgers win in Game 4 tonight, they'll be taking home their eighth World Series title.
That's all for now. I'll be back with our next episode at 9am Eastern.
