The fundamentals of cycling are simple; even small children do it. Yet it’s vital that we occasionally revisit the core principles of our favorite sport. In this episode of Cycling in Alignment, Colby outlines many of the key components of cycling, including the physical characteristics that make for great cyclists. He also ponders the question: if your body doesn’t match with this description, can you still be a great rider? • 10 Work-Life Balance in the Context of Cycling

    04/22/2021

Today on Cycling in Alignment we take a step back, off the bike, to focus on the alignment of your mental state. Every activity can be classified as “yin” or “yang” according to ancient Chinese philosophy. You’ve likely seen the interlaced black and white circle representative of this philosophy; the symbol illustrates how seemingly opposite forces can be complementary and interconnected. But have you ever had an in-depth lesson on yin and yang? More importantly, have you learned how to apply this knowledge to your life? Lucky for you, Colby has some answers. All you Type-A, go-getter cyclists, it’s time to contemplate the importance of balancing your yang activities with the yin. Ready for some intervals from Coach Colby? How about a six-by-six-minute breathing workout as you slowly walk around the block? NOCLIP

WELCOME TO NOCLIP! We are a fortnightly, book club-styled podcast in which we attempt to go in-depth on an individual video game and figure out what makes it unique. Episodes are around an hour to an hour and a half long and primarily feature free form discussion on themes and mechanics present in each episode’s titular game. Bear in mind that we are not reviewers, so as far as we critique the games at hand, our intent is not to convince you to play any particular work. SPOILER WARNING: Given the depth at which we intend to cover the games in question, those which feature a story, plot, mechanical surprises, fun moments you may not have heard about or otherwise will be fully discussed, likely at length. Given this, it is advised that you go into each episode with the understanding that these elements will most likely be spoiled. If you are sensitive to that sort of thing, we recommend that you either play the game before listening to the podcast, or skip the episode altogether. (Though

In short, Anti-wave is a way to describe films that seek to buck the typical Hollywood trends. Anti-wave is an opportunity to reimagine the way we construct genre films. Anti-westerns have been popular in the years since WWII, but where are the anti-sports films that try to shake off the expected formulaic writing? This podcast tries to find those films for you. Along the way, we deliver some laughs, get into film theory, and speak with filmmakers who share our anti-sentiment. So, welcome to Anti-wave Podcast! We hope you enjoy the ride.

Episode Description

This episode of Cycling in Alignment is with author and bike fitter Phil Cavell. I found his book The Midlife Cyclist: The Road Map for the +40 Rider Who Wants to Train Hard, Ride Fast and Stay Healthy to be an excellent read that is loaded with insightful explorations and nuggets of wisdom. Phil notes that it has only been for the last few hundred years that humans started living past their forties in significant numbers, and only in the last few decades have those people started riding and racing what he terms “A Victorian contraption” [bicycles]. Now, there are masters athletes exercising at a high level into their 60’s and 70’s. This opens a discussion about the positives and negatives of high load athletic lifestyle choices on an aging body. Phil consults a number of experts for his book, including four cardiologists, and the results are fascinating.

As always, thank you for listening to Cycling in Alignment with Colby Pearce. I appreciate your comments and feedback on this episode in the comments below.
