#607 TRADITIONS (GOOD & BAD)

The Apostle Paul warned, "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ" (Colossians 2:8). If we surrender holiness to follow a tradition of the world, we defeat the purpose of religion. By contrast, good traditions anchor the elect in beliefs and behaviors God expects us to maintain. The Apostle Paul also wrote, "Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word or our epistle" (2 Thessalonians 2:15).
