#92 I guess its in the way you look at it

970.306.6432I guess it’s in the way you look at it.  Today lets see if we can have the right perspective today.Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every day of the week!  This is message #92 and I am Aaron Havens.Think back to a time in your life when you could say something like:Whew… barely made that.By the skin of my teethJust in the nick of timeClose callSqueaked byBy the sat of my pantsJust under the wireSlimmest of marginsWhat is a time you would use one of these sayings?When I was dating my wife we had a snowstorm in Colorado.  She was flying out of Denver and I was in Colorado Springs.  A massive snowstorm hit, and DIA was going to get shut down.  Being the stud muffin I was I got in my car to go “save her”.  The snow was crazy bad.  At one point I was driving down I-25 in the left lane.  I looked up and a semi trailer had slid out of control and had stopped perpendicular to the road and was literally blocking all lanes.  I swerved to the left and embraced for the collision.  I still don’t know how it happened.  My car (going 40 mph) just went down into the median, around the truck, and back onto the highway.  Knuckles white, pants brown… what just happened.  It was impossible.  I should’ve slammed into the truck and maybe been decapitated.  YIKES.  I thanked God profusely that day!In the movie Any Given Sunday Al Pacino plays the role of Tony D’Amato who is the head foot coach of the Miami Sharks.  He gives a famous speech: “You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game - life or football - the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don't quite catch it.”What is success? Is it “luck” or “hardwork”?Maybe you would say it’s a combination of both.  My friends what I’m speaking to today is our perspective.  Do you notice the small things?  Or do you take them for granted. I’ve had some really close calls both in the “good” way if you would … like avoiding the semi… and in the “bad” way if you would… like almost closing a massive massive good deal.
