A Farewell to Arms chapter TEN
A French soldier named Henry Barbusse published one of the first novels about WW1, Le Feu, under fire: the story of a squad. In his vivid recollections he wrote, “Two armies that fight each other is like one army committing suicide.” When we last left our hero, he had just been wounded & was on his way to wherever in the back of one of the ambulances he was supposed to be driving. My name is Tricia Sulpizio & I am your host for another episode of tea & bedtime stories, a podcast for anyone who likes good books. In this episode, we will continue reading A Farewell to Arms, a novel by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1929. Last time, we read chapter NINE in book ONE, & now I will continue the story with chapter TEN. After reading the chapter, I will follow up with quick facts & my impressions. I look forward to talking to you soon. Thanks for listening!
