A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

from St Bride's Church, Fleet Street · host St Bride's Church, Fleet Street

Our Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols on the last Sunday before Christmas, 20th December, offers the only chance during Advent to hear the full range of readings in the form of service devised by Eric Milner-White for King's College, Cambridge in 1918. Order of Service (pdf) → https://bit.ly/nine_stbrides This year the service from King's College, Cambridge contains no new music but rather a mixture of old favourites and less familiar pieces and we have decided to follow their lead. The latter category will include items which have been enjoyed at the many corporate carol services which we undertake in a normal year, notably Will Todd's beautiful and haunting "My Lord has come" and a quirky setting of "I wonder as I wander" by the Swiss composer Carl Rutti. And familiar favourite include Cornelius' "The Three Kings" and Harold Darke's much-loved setting of In the bleak midwinter. ========================= This event is free, but we hope you might consider making a donation towards the upkeep of our historic Wren church and to support our work and ministry. You can do so at JustGiving. Alternatively, in the UK, text 5STBRIDES or 10STBRIDES or 20STBRIDES to 70470 to donate £5, £10 or £20.
