In this episode we meet Anna Tomkins, creator of ‘Handbook for Today’, a set of guided journals to introduce tools and positive mindsets to encourage wellbeing and personal growth. Also, as the creator of  the ‘Handbook for Getting Hitched’ journals, Anna is perfectly equipped to discuss and advise on all things relationships. John and Anna talk about her journals and how they can help to achieve wellbeing, how couples can invest in their future together by asking the right questions at the start, Anna’s own romantic relationships and tips about how to communicate effectively.KEY TAKEAWAYS ‘Handbook for Today’ prompts the user to journal thoughts, be guided into positive thinking by noting learning opportunities gained and incidents of uplifting events that occurred throughout their day and gives them tools to achieve a healthy mindset. Small occurrences, (smiles, interactions, pleasurable experiences), can be noted as enjoyable experiences that can increase our sense of well being. ‘Handbook for Getting Hitched’ encourages couples to discuss important things before getting married or embarking on a long term relationship that would normally be quite awkward to approach, or simply overlooked.  Anna finds being comfortable in one's own company allows you to make better decisions based less on need to be partnered and more on aspects like compatibility and mindset. The significance in communication is evident in the need to verify if both parties are ready for a discussion at all, for instance. Asking if someone is ready for a serious discussion and identifying a good time to do so is part of a good level of communication. BEST MOMENTS‘It’s about recognising those very small things that maybe we would overlook or don’t recognise but actually that touching of nature and stuff brings something up that we really enjoy.’ – John‘The Church (of England) gives you a nudge to do a wedding preparation course or read some kind of manuals. I really enjoyed doing that. I really thought it was a great idea.’ - Anna ‘In a couple everybody is entitled to ask those questions and there is not that much help and the workbooks are really just something to guide through these questions.’ – Anna‘In retrospect I consider myself very lucky because I’m quite ok in my own company so I was  not always looking for a partner to bring something into my life.’ – Anna ‘I wasn’t prepared to meet anyone, which was brilliant, because there was no ‘performance’ on my side and I don’t think on his side either.’ – Anna‘People that don’t really have that (support network) do really struggle to break away from these unhappy spaces that they're in, even if it’s a work one as well.’ – JohnGUEST RESOURCESContact: www.handbookfortoday.comInstagram: @handbookfortoday to get the freebie offerVALUABLE RESOURCESLink to my workshop - https://www.johnkennycoaching.com/5- things-you-need-to-create-a-healthy-loving-relationship/To get in touch - email – [email protected] or book a complimentary call – https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30minIf people want to order a copy of the book then they can just pay postage of £4.95 (RRP £8.99) - www.johnkennycoaching.com/podcast-book-offerWant to be able to address the relationship issues in your life? - Why not book in for a complimentary call and we can discuss how you can get the new started with some new types of relationships - https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30minThe Relationship Guy Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/the-relationship-guy        ABOUT THE HOSTI am John Kenny, The Relationship Guy - Coaching people to experience healthy loving relationships. Having spent a life choosing unhealthy relationships and self sabotaging my own success, I now coach people to live a life they choose.CONTACT METHODFacebook – https://www.facebook.com/johnkennycoachingLinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-kenny-coachingInsta – https://www.instagram.com/johnkennycoaching/Twitter – https://www.twitter.com/johnkennycoachYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHTj9x6Tlo7lcIJITyx-tgQClubhouse - @relationshipguy Hosted on Acast. Brother Blaq1-" The Relationship Guy" Rob Gregg My podcast is about relationships and family. My goal is to help people make the right choice in mate selection. The only way we can grow as people is to look at our own lives and confront the truth. The saying is true, " the truth can set you free!! When we are totally free from the past, then and only then can we attract the right "purpose mate". Together with Nikhil Chinapa Nikhil Chinapa Together is a way of celebrating the relationship between you guys, the community that makes this show so special, and us, the team that puts the show together. Together, we/'re going to do amazing things. The FootPol Podcast Francesco Belcastro and Guy Burton The podcast that brings together football and politics. We'll be exploring the relationship between the two, both inside and outside the game. The podcast covers "Big Politics" like politicians, clubs, international and national federations and other organised groups and how they use or abuse the game to "Small, Everyday Politics" in the form of community-level clubs, fan associations and the way that football reflects the political challenges of our day to day lives. The FootPol Podcast is brought to you by co-hosts Drs Francesco Belcastro and Guy Burton. The Billy Madison Show Cristine Billy holds a Master’s Degree in Business from American International University and attended Mankato State in Minnesota, but don’t hold that against him. He is a collector of Star Wars memorabilia, autographs (seriously), and a self-admitted ”dork” (but in a cool way of course). Derek is Billy’s ”right hand man” and offers his opinion on many topics but he will honestly admit he’s ”not a political expert or expert on a lot of things” and ”never went to college” but neither did Bill Gates (ok Gates went, but dropped out) but so what? ”Nard” (also known as Nathan) is a former listener of the show that was given a job after Billy helped him find a girlfriend. The relationship with the girl didn’t last but Billy and the guys liked Nard’s ”wit” and offered him a chance to be on the show one day and he never left. Nard has won over 50 Gold Medals in The Special Olympics and supports causes that help place special needs individuals in appropriate jobs and careers, just as he has done.
