Though he is true God, hebecame a man. Though he is all powerful, he became a servant. Though he is immortal and eternal, he died. He not only laid aside his glory, but he also took our shame on him. Yet, in this great humility, he won the peace of forgiveness for us, and earned for himself the name that he had been given, the name that is above every name: Jesus. And he earns for us a credential that expresses itself in emptying ourselves from a life of selfishness and conceit, and he fills us with the tenderness and compassion of Jesus tovalue others above ourselves.
