A Knock At My Door

from THE CHAIR

THE CHAIR (S1/Ep30) — A Knock At My DoorHello Beautiful People, I’m Your Host Dreme. I’m a Black woman, an educator turned tech entrepreneur but still an educator. Building a platform called THE CHAIR is a Black and Brown centered tech platform dedicated to supporting people on their hair journey. You can design hairboards, connect to hair stylists, and share hair care tips all in one space for a more joyous and streamlined experience. I built THE CHAIR Podcast to highlight hair journeys. A reminder to keep creating magic. As people sit in THE CHAIR you will get more than just hair stories. You will be immersed into experiences surrounding education, entrepreneurship, and identity. I hope you enjoy listening to my stories and the stories of my guests as we sit in THE CHAIR. THE CHAIR (S1/Ep30) — A Knock At My DoorI was introduced to Juwan through my mother. Juwan is a local politician. He is in the communities and advocating to guide for local resources. Come learn how he got into local politics and what the church has to do with his hair journey. His Bio:Greetings, Neighbors,My name is Juwan K. Skeens, and I am proud to be your candidate for Boston City Council, representing District 4 in 2025!Born and raised in Dorchester, I’m a proud African American whose family has owned property in the neighborhood for over 50 years. As a Boston Public School graduate of The Joseph Lee School, Timilty Middle School, and Excel High School, I honed my leadership skills early on as a Junior Varsity Debate Champion with the Boston Debate League and as Senior Class President. My passion for service deepened as the Neighborhood Liaison to District 4 under then-City Council President Andrea Campbell (2016–2018). In this role, I had the privilege of connecting neighbors and businesses across Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan to city, state, and federal resources. I attended zoning board meetings, worked with nearly 20 civic associations monthly, and initiated impactful projects like Grove Hall in Color and the Boston Youth Expo, empowering youth and families with opportunities. My mission is simple: to ensure that our community has the representation, resources, and voice it deserves. Juwan Skeens the Politician: https://www.skeensforboston.com/about-5 Send us Fan MailHost & Exec Producer:  Dreme Flynt, M.Ed, MBAEditor: Lila Woodbridgehttp://www.lilawoodbridge.com/Music Creators: Your Host Dreme & Seoul (@xSeoulMusicx) Learn More About THE CHAIR:Join THE CHAIR Community for FREE:https://growinghands.wpengine.com/Join THE CHAIR Newsletter for FREE: https://growinghands.wpengine.com/newsletter/ Commercial Credits: Visionary: Your Host DremeAnimator: Ahmad Merhi https://amerhifilm.com/film Voice Actor: D.
