from FilmRise True Crime · host FilmRise True Crime

A mother reports her child missing. Her car has been stolen, she says. The thief must have taken the child too. Police search for hours. They find the car abandoned in a parking lot. No child inside. The mother's story changes. She is no longer sure the child was in the car. She is no longer sure the car was stolen. The detective asks a simple question. Where is your child? The mother does not answer. In this episode, I examine the interrogation of a mother who killed her own child and staged a car theft to cover it up. The mother had a history of mental illness. She had threatened to harm the child before. The father had been seeking custody. The mother saw no way out. She drove the child to a remote area, killed her, and left her body in a ditch. She then drove to a parking lot, left the car, and called police to report it stolen. The interrogation lasted five hours. The mother maintained her story for three of them. Then the detective told her that a witness had seen her driving the car away from the ditch. The mother asked for a lawyer. The damage was done. The witness was fabricated. But the mother did not know that. She confessed. She led police to the body. She was convicted of murder.Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and press play because the missing child was never missing. She was hidden. And the mother's story did not hold up.
