A Moment To Pause: Sunday January 25th 2026 of Ordinary Time - Daily reflection #prayer podcast
from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates
Good morning and thank you for joining our Oblate short time to pause, reflect and pray together on Sunday January 25th 2026 of Ordinary Time. Thanks to Mary O'Brien in Dublin for today's reflection: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the holy Spirit, Amen. Thank you for joining me for a time of reflection and prayer with our Gospel text, which today is from Matt. 4:12-17, and in which we find the following: “…the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, for those who sat in the shadow of death light has dawned ..” Another line says: “From that time Jesus began to proclaim, ‘Repent for the kingdom of heaven has come near’ “ The ‘great light’ is the people witnessing to the work and life of Jesus. We often use the phrase “it dawned on me” …and I think for the people their faith in Jesus has been ignited and growing numbers of people are become believers. With the arrest of John the Baptist, Jesus is becoming more focussed in his desire that people understand what is required to become true followers of his: to radically change from self-serving lives, to lives that live out the gospel calling of love for God, for ourselves and for others. Lord, your will is that everyone be saved and you draw us to yourself by prayer and penance. Grant that we may follow Christ in love. Amen. #bible #prayer #podcast #faith #catholic
