A New Layer

from THE CHAIR

I met Kelly over 3 years ago two days before I left to complete my Fulbright in South Africa. My high school guidance counselor Mrs. Gayman introduced us as Kelly was looking to interview people for her series unpacking the importance and significance of a liberal arts education. I said I was down and that led to me being on my very first podcast episode ever. That beautiful conversation led into another conversation a year later where I was invited back to be on her PBS Special in New York City, which was another first. When I started my podcast I created a running list of people I would love to talk to and Kelly was on that list. I sent her an email not expecting a response. Not everyday I come across best selling authors with PBS Specials. She said yes and it turned out to be a three part conversation about the intricacies of identities through the lens of childhood, college, and travel. Enjoy as Kelly sits in THE CHAIR.  Her Bio:Kelly Corrigan has written 4 New York Times bestselling memoirs and is the host of the top 1% podcast Kelly Corrigan Wonders, with close to 17 million downloads to date, and Tell Me More on PBS, now in its 7th season. Her much-lauded TED talk lays bare the extraordinary bravery occasionally required in family life. THE CHAIR (S1/Ep95) — A New LayerI’m Your Host Dreme. I’m a Black woman, an educator turned tech entrepreneur but still an educator.
