A Primer on Biblical Masculinity | BISHOP ROBERT BARRON

from Order of Man

Today, we tackle a conversation we've never had on this podcast – biblical masculinity. As you men are well aware, Order of Man is a non-religious movement but that doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't look at all available paths to the type of men we have a desire to be. And, I can think of no better guest to have this type of conversation than Bishop Robert Barron, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. During our conversation, we talk about David as an example of biblical masculinity, individual sovereignty vs. God's sovereignty, literal and figurative interpretations of the bible, Jesus Christ as a fighter, and choosing to live the commandments. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS The great narratives How David emerges Lessons of humility A willingness to engage Man's capability to protect Engaging through non-violence After the resurrection Listening to the Lord The sovereignty of God Governing your family Discerning your mission Twelve-year-old Jesus Finding true power Clinging to worldly power The discipline of the gym Respect for your freedom Choosing your character Building a moral wall Legitimate self-care Biblical literacy BISHOP ROBERT BARRON Gents, I've been looking forward to introducing my guest to you today. His name is Bishop Robert Barron. He currently serves as the auxiliary bishop to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and is the founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. He's been asked to speak at Facebook, Google, and Amazon on the subject of religion, discussed and debated with Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro, and serves as a religious correspondent for NBC, Fox News, and CNN. In addition, he reaches nearly 2,000,000 people on his social media accounts and over 350,000 people receive his daily email reflections. Obviously, the man is very influential and, during our discussion today, I think you'll hear why. LEGACY Men (specifically fathers), we are coming down to the wire on closing down registration for the LEGACY EXPERIENCE and I want you and your son to be there. Check your calendars because it's going to be held June 11th-14th, 2020 on my property here in Maine. This is an experience unlike any other and it's designed to be 3 ½ days of extensive physical and intellectual competition and camaraderie between you and 19 other fathers/sons. We've created an event that will quite literally transform the relationship that you and your boy have together and give you the tools, resources, and framework for you to usher your boy into manhood in a world that seems to be increasingly dismissive of it. If you're even the least bit interested, head to www.orderofman.com/legacy to watch a quick video of our last event and learn more about what the weekend entails. But do it quickly as we only have 3 spots remaining. Again, www.orderofman.com/legacy. Join our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council.
