Meet Erika:
Hey everyone! I’m Erika Sorbello and I’m the proud owner & curator of Gallery Salon. I grew up in a small town in central NY with my father’s salon attached to my house. I have fond memories of “playing hairdresser”, loving the buzz, chatter and laughter in the salon and even the smell of perms and cigarettes… (it was the 80’s)

I moved to Rochester in 1997 to pursue an art degree at Nazareth College. After only 2 years, I decided that I was destined to do something different. In 1999, I enrolled in Continental School of Beauty and graduated in 2000. I felt so lucky to have found such a perfect fit for me at such a young age.

After 5 years in the industry, I opened Gallery in the summer of 2005 at the original location on University Ave. After lots of growing pains, we moved locations to our current home at Elton Street in 2014. As an owner working behind the chair, I strive to keep up to date and coach and lead my team to do the same. We are consistently seeking educational and local networking opportunities, pushing the boundaries and staying on top of trends. We are Rochester proud and showcase local artist, makers and brands. I am very proud to say that Gallery Salon is a certified LGBTQIA+ Safe Space and we utilize Gender Neutral Pricing. During my downtime, I’m generally with my greatest achievement, my daughter Viola, and my partner Nate, or my friends and family enjoying everything Rochester has to offer. If I have an opportunity to have time to myself, I'm either out hunting for vintage to sell at Gallery, making art or hanging with a friend(s) at a local restaurant or festival.  Gallery Salon welcomes all, creates beauty and urges uniqueness!

Lots more to come in 2025!

Davey Gets Rich: a Business Startup Tale Davey Mars Want to avoid a business startup disaster? Follow Davey as he does everything wrong and still builds a successful new company. I'll recap the day's wins and losses, while sharing the mindset, tools and ideas around how I keep myself on track in the midst of chaos and overcome procrastination, fear, impostor syndrome and good old laziness. Season 2 starts Jan 2nd, 2022. "I have to admit, it's getting better." Mars and Its Canals by Percival Lowell (1855 - 1916) LibriVox In the days before telescope photography, astronomers had to draw what they thought they saw through the eyepiece throughout the long dark nights. Sometimes they saw saw more than there really was to see, and a bit over 100 years ago Percival Lowell published books on what he was sure were canals on Mars, signs of intelligent civilization. (In case you too are skeptical, we also have at Librivox a criticism of Lowell's theories in a book published a year later (in 1907) by Alfred Russel Wallace.) - Summary by ToddHW Unboxing Ecommerce: Operations Behind Online Brands James Marks and Jennifer Yates In each episode, we order a product from the same brand, meticulously analyzing both the front and back end of placing an order.
