A special tribute to Jonny Gayle

from Head Games · host Jon Levett

On December 12th, 2018, at the age of 29, Jonathan Gayle was tragically taken from us. To know him was to love him. Jonny was a co-worker of mine at Sportsnet and a person whom I connected with instantly. This is normally a podcast feed dedicated to mental health in the sports world. This isn't a regular episode on this feed. This is my way of paying tribute to a friend. But Jonny is a person whom I'll always think about when I'm down because he was so positive. He was a very passionate, goal oriented, positive thinker. This cannot be overstated. The last month has been extremely difficult for all the people who knew him. I've been grief stricken and depressed for most of it. But every time I get way down, I think of what Jonny would've said to me. To anyone who is dealing with inner demons: you can get through it. He would see the positive in every situation. Jonny loved life. He seemed to cherish every moment of it. This is my way of paying respect. I spoke to dozens of people who loved him. These are their stories.
