Acolyte was a complete failure
from Geek Nation · host Keiranmoore
Disney has officially addressed The Acolyte, which I personally consider the worst Star Wars project ever created. According to their statement, the series was simply too expensive to continue producing—this, while they’ve allocated over $650 million for Andor seasons 1 and 2. In other words, it appears the show underperformed, failed to attract viewers, and is not worth further investment.I’m relieved that The Acolyte won’t be renewed. Hopefully, this puts to rest the narrative that those who criticized it were acting out of bias rather than genuine disappointment with the quality. Clearly, Disney itself doesn’t see value in continuing the series. Perhaps it’s not that complex—we just want good Star Wars content.Looking ahead, I hope for a return to the quality of The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 (but not season 3) and Tales of the Jedi (not Empire). With projects like the upcoming Mandalorian movie and Ahsoka season 2, there’s hope for better Star Wars storytelling.
