The first of the Ten Commandments declares you shall have no other gods before me (Ex. 20:3). Idolatry is worship of false gods or excessive devotion for some person or thing. In essence, anything that is your master passion other than God is an idol: possessions, people (relationships, celebrity, your prominence), hobbies, recreation, entertainment, career, social media. Idolatry flows from the desire to worship, but refusing to yield to God. God empowers us to overcome idolatry because only He can restore heart, mind, body, and soul. Let’s discover how.
