Akram's Story

Akram was just 6-years-old when he came to Lebanon and started hearing about Jesus. At 16-years-old he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Now he is 19-years-old and is serving with Heart for Lebanon in our Hope on Wheels children's ministry. Akram has a heart to help children know Christ at an early age so that they can learn how to overcome challenges based on Truth. Because his parents were open to learning about Jesus and let him go to Sunday School classes, he has God's word planted deep in his heart. This is what we want for all of the children we serve. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
