American Spirited Away: Travel Conspiracies & the Cultural Nosedive (May 4, 2026)
from The Secret Teachings · host Ryan Gable
The closure of Spirit airlines has been met with conspiracies, government intervention, laughter and good riddance. Although there is a cultural push to limit travel by both air and ground, even a conspiracy, the fact is that these conspiracies are not universally true. Safety, cleanliness, genuine customer service, and fighting customers were not merely laughter-points of Spirit; they define much of the airline industry and most ground transportation in the U.S. as well, especially buses. Surveillance, security theater, and rudeness contributes to both conspiracies and an overall cultural issue that is at the root of these problems. The behaviors of government officials and public-service representatives is merely a reflection of the social pool from whence those workers are pulled. Likewise, their behavior is often justified when having to deal with an uncultured public. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements.
