Amos was a back woods farmer from the Southern Kingdom who God called to go to the elite of the Northern Kingdom. Amos had no formal training as far as we can tell. His qualification for ministry came from the fact that God called him. When God calls you, He will qualify you.

The message Amos was to give was a hard message. It was a truthful message, but a hard message. Amos was obedient and faithful to God. He went to the elite of the Northern Kingdom and delivered the message with unwavering courage. Amaziah of the Northern elites tried to intimidate and bully Amos, but to no avail. Amos was serving the King of kings. He had no need to fear anyone or anything.

How we need some like Amos today who when called by God will courageously answer the call.
