We now come to the completion of our Amos study. We see in this study one of the more frightening things concerning the judgement of God. It is the famine of the hearing of the word of God. The people had refused to heed God's word. The availability was there. The knowledge was there, yet they simply refused to live in obedience to His word.

When a people continue to refuse to listen to God's word, the time will come when they cannot hear the word of God. This was the point to which the Northern kingdom had come. It was a sign that they were on the precipice of God's judgement.

Are we living in a famine of the hearing of God's word? Are we on the precipice of God's judgment?
